Speeches: All speeches will be given in German, unless otherwise noted (see FAQ). Date and time for each speech is shown on the Agenda. The duration is, unless otherwise noted, 35-40 minutes.
Language English or German By Dr. John G. Zabolitzky/GfhR - Telefunken Analog Computers - from the Prototype to the RA800H
- This lecture sheds light on the history and development of analog computing technology by Telefunken. Telefunken was a technology leader in this area in the 1960ies and served as a example in the field of analog computing. Notably this lecture will be first to describe the very first prototype of a (tube based) analog computer which was built during the early 1950ies by Telefunken and formed the basis of a whole family of analog and hybrid computers built by Telefunken in the following years.
Language English or German By Bernd Ulmann - Analog and Hybrid Computing
- This lecture covers the technology and programming of (electronic) analog and hybrid computers with a wealth of practical examples. It will not only cover the mathematical foundations of analog/hybrid computing. It will also cover the technology of computational elements and their usage for solving actual problems.
Language English or German By Bernd Ulmann - Workshop: Analogue Computing
- This hans-on workshop allows you to practice and gain knowledge about analogue computers on a real machine. Support and experienced supervision is at hand to guide your first (?) steps.
Language English or German By Bernd Ulmann You will experience a real working CDC Dinosaur, including a hands on demonstration. A CDC Cyber 960, the last of a successful family of supercomputers which started in 1964 with the CDC 6600. The machine is part of the Cray-Cyber Project. Visitors will be able to operate a Fortran Program. Beside this highlight other fine computers will be on Display, including a CRAY Y-MP, the 'smallest' ever computer of Cray Research. The demonstration itself will take about 60 minutes. The whole tour will be 1 hour 50. Departure is every hour at :30 in front of the VCFe exhibition hall. Please Notice: - The Tour requires an additional fee of EUR 2,-.
- You may not travel on your own.
- It is strongly recommended to visit the CDC and/or Cray-Cyber speech before you participate.
- There's a maximum number of 10 visitors per Tour.
- There are no restrooms at the tours destination.
